DOCTORS REFORM SOCIETY
Media Release
Monday, 14 June 2004
“The price of life saving drugs is set to rise with the Free Trade Agreement according to more evidence presented to the Senate Committee,” said Dr Tim Woodruff, President of the Doctors Reform Society.
“The Senate has been inundated with submissions indicating that through many different ways, the FTA will lead to a more expensive Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme,” said Dr Woodruff. “Sadly, it is patients who will pay the price, and some will pay with their lives as they decide that they can’t afford the drugs recommended by their doctor.”
“When the Australian Government has to pay more for these drugs, they will make patients pay. Patients will be forced to buy or die.”
