Doctors Support Universal Bulk Billing

“Doctors support Labors’ policy for a bulk billing rebate increase across the board for all Australians”, said Dr Tim Woodruff, President of Doctors Reform Society.

“Bulk billing saves the health system money and saves lives’, said Dr Woodruff.

“Access to the family doctor stops people needing expensive hospital care and keeps health costs down”.

“The Howard policy of increasing the rebate only for pensioners card holders and children is forcing doctors to abandon bulk billing for the majority of Australians”.

“This means high up front charges for most Australians and an expensive two tiered health system”.

“This is not Medicare”.
