Howard
announces credit card
The news that private health insurance will soon cover the gap
Australians have to pay when they see their GP or specialist is “… a body blow
to the 56 % of Australians who can’t afford private health insurance “ said Dr
Tim Woodruff, president of the Doctors Reform Society.
Not only will it mean that working families will struggle to afford
doctors’ bills, said Dr Woodruff, but for those with private health insurance
it will mean that private health insurance premiums will sky-rocket and many of
those who can now just afford it, will be left struggling.
To add insult to injury, taxes collected for all Australians will fund
30% of any premium rises because of the wasteful unfair private health insurance
rebate. This is economically irresponsible and morally indefensible behaviour
from a Government which has said it is concerned for the Aussie battler. Its
only interest in the Aussie battler is to make them pay more, US style.
Credit cards, not Medicare cards, will soon be the only way to get good
health care.
