"The Doctors Reform Society recommends a vote against the Coalition and One Nation at the Federal election this Saturday, 3 October," announced Dr Peter Davoren, President of the Doctors Reform Society of Queensland.
"The health policies of these two parties will see the destruction of Medicare, the universal public health care system preferred by most Australians. If the health policies of these two parties are introduced, Australia will get two health systems, a luxury one for the rich and an underfunded, understaffed one for the rest of us" said Dr Davoren.
"The average wage earner will not be able to afford the excessive costs of an uncontrolled private sector and will join the disadvantaged and chronically ill in the lengthening queues waiting for treatment in public hospitals" said Dr Davoren.
"The Doctors Reform Society believes the integrity of Medicare can not be maintained when a government uses tax-payer’s money to subsidise the private health industry at the expense of the public system" said Dr Davoren.
"Moving to a user-pays system will disenfranchise those most in need, the disadvantaged and the chronically ill. The Doctors Reform Society believes the threat to Medicare is grave and recommends a vote against the Coalition and One Nation at the Federal election this Saturday" said Dr Davoren.
