Doctors Call On Coalition To Match ALP Commitment To Queensland Hospitals

"The Doctors' Reform Society welcomes the commitment of the Australian Labor Party to maintain the recurrent budgets of Queensland public hospitals, and calls on the Coalition to match this promise" said Dr Peter Davoren, President of the Doctors Reform Society of Queensland today.

"Queensland public hospitals are already seriously underfunded.  Coalition expectations that Queensland public hospitals should partly fund rebuilding programs out of their own recurrent budgets are unrealistic, and must lead to a reduction in health services available for Queenslanders.  Only an adequate recurrent hospital budget will meet the needs of the Queensland public.  Today's commitment to the recurrent budget by the ALP is far more important to the delivery of health care than short term funds periodically made available for specific projects." said Dr Davoren.
