DOCTORS CONDEMN TOBACCO SPONSORSHIP OF LIBERAL PARTY

The Doctors Reform Society today condemned the Liberal Party for accepting tobacco company Phillip Morris sponsorship for their National Conference in Brisbane tomorrow.

"As doctors, we are appalled by a major political party accepting sponsorship from a company associated with a substance that kills over one thousand Australians each month" said Dr Peter Davoren, Queensland President of the Doctors Reform Society.

"As doctors, we call on the three doctors in the Liberal Party who have spoken against tobacco sponsorship, Dr Michael Wooldridge, Dr Brendan Nelson and Senator Herron to boycott this scandalous dinner" said Dr Davoren.
