Simplified Billing System
Calls for a simplified billing system for paying GPs are understandable but the Government is claiming it isn't interested ("GPs fight for instant pay scheme", Herald, April 22). Perhaps it has learned a lesson from the safety net debacle - that there are doctors who will use the system to increase their fees. Most doctors are fair, but there are enough who are not or who are simply ignorant of the financial circumstances of the patient to make such a simplified billing system inflationary.
