 Iraqi combatants are human, too

There was a furore when the faces of captured US soldiers were shown on  TV. This hasn’t prevented identifiable Iraqi prisoners from being shown  on our screens daily. Recent footage had a new twist. The Iraqis were  hooded and we were treated to a close up of bound hands shaking with  fear. Iraqi combatants are human, too.

This war’s supporters need to  accept that. If these prisoners had been Australian, Prime Minister John  Howard would have been vocal about their mistreatment.
