Simple answer

Most analysts blame complex psychosocial factors for increases in youth suicide, emotional problems, violence, broken marriages and dysfunctional families.

Dr Alec Preda has a simpler explanation (Medicare Holding Back the Years" Australian Doctor, 28 March).

He writes of proof they are due to the failure of our "socialised health system", and believes corporatisation and user-pays principles are the answers (while inexplicably appearing to support community rating).

I wonder how he explains worse social problems in the US?
